Darlene Simpson

Darlene Simpson was born August 12, 1962, to Erline and W. T. Barber in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She later moved with her family to Wichita, Kansas. She attended Mizpah Baptist Church under the leadership of W. H. Rice. She sung in the choir and on the junior usher board. Darlene later joined the Greater Victorious Cross Church of God and Christ under the leadership of Superintendent R. G. Hines. She loved bringing her grandchildren to church and loved her family. Darlene departed this life Thursday, October 21, 202, with her daughters by her side. All who loved her, was very close to her. The name my mom was given, but to all her grandchildren she was “MOMO.” Darlene had a warm heart and loved family. All she wanted was for her daughters to love her and she got that and so much more. Darlene was her daughter’ best friend. They could talk to her about everything. Her daughter felt like we were more sisters than anything.

Darlene leaves her legacy to her three daughters: Mahogany Hicks, Sierra Wooten, Jaisa Leblanc; fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren. She was also expecting to have another great-grandchild wo will be born in May 2022. Darlene was the daughter of Erline Simpson. They had a double funeral.
