Donna (Kibby) Hamilton
Donna (Kibby) Hamilton was born on August 2, 1951, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to John and Addie Kibby, she was the fifth of six children. Donna went to her heavenly home Sunday morning September 15. Donna grew up in the Yeager/ Holdenville area where she attended school at Yeager Elementary before graduating from Moss Public School in 1969, where she was a member of
the Oklahoma state Key club 4-H Hall of Fame. She also excelled at exhibiting livestock along with playing sports.
After graduating she married James Hamilton, her High School sweetheart on Oct 3, 1969, and began their family in the Horntown community where they raised their 3 children until the late 80's.
Donna learned to play the piano in Junior High and would play the piano at Revivals and community singings around Holdenville while James would lead singing. Donna worked at Burtons IGA after graduation and in later years worked at the Hughes County Clerk and later served as the Hughes County Court Clerk. Many members of her family, kids, nieces, and nephews have many memories of times out on the campaign trail where the dogs would chase them. In the 80's Donna worked in the Oil Boom and James later joined her as a land person buying mineral rights all over Oklahoma. In 1987 they moved to Anadarko where Donna began working as a paralegal for Burns Law Office. In 1990 Donna started attending USAO full time and graduated in 1994 with Honors with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. During this time, she worked a full-time job, was a full time student and would be at every function or event that her kids were participating in. Donna worked at Temple Inland Wallboard Plant before moving on to work for AT&T as a Customer Service Representative receiving the Center of Excellence award yearly for her outstanding work and was Vice President of the Communication Workers Union.
She was highly regarded in the AT&T community for her ability to work a good deal for her coworkers while maintaining a good standing
with management. Donna was a very talented seamstress, making clothes and costumes for her kids and her family. Donna and James raised their kids in the Penn West Baptist, Banner Baptist, and Verden Baptist church then later became members of the First Assembly of God Church in Anadarko.
She is preceded in death by her husband James, Daughter Annette Hamilton, parents John & Addie Kibby, Grandparents Walter & Edna Hulsey, Grandparents John & Lula Kibby, Brother, Bill Kibby, and sisters Carol Weber and Linda Burkhead. She is survived by daughter Candy & spouse Dwayne McGhghy, Son, Richard Hamilton, Grandchildren, Zach Hamilton, Megan & spouse Hunter Ladyman, and Dalton McGhghy, greatgrandchildren, Hayden, Maddie, and Mckenna Ladyman, brother Jerry & spouse Elaine Kibby and sister JoVaughn & spouse David Davis, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at the First Assembly of God, Anadarko, OK.
Interment was at Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK under the direction of Ray and Martha's Funeral Home, Anadarko, OK.
