Nero Sr., organizer of the 2023 Oklahoma All-Black Towns State Conference in Oklahoma City at the Oklahoma History Center on August 12, reported an outstanding participation at the conference. Eleven Black mayors, representing Black towns and or predominantly Black populated areas, participated in morning sessions which provided information about their communities. Twelve state agencies and/or organizations presented during afternoon sessions provided information vital to the towns and individuals to assist in infrastructure and town building.
Read moreIt was in 1921 that Kaleb Sims and Dollie Golden of Clearview married. They remained in Clearview for one year and the following year they moved to California. During that year, Opal, their only child was born. Before they left for their new home, Dollie’s mother, Dolly Hollands Golden had Kaleb promise to bring her daughter and her new granddaughter Opal back to Clearview on Dollie’s birthday which was September 1st. Of course, Kaleb agreed to return each year on September 1st.

The grant aims to support water, sewer, and dam projects, with Wetumka’s application, ARP-23-0191-G, qualifying for the additional ARPA funds authorized by House Bill 2942, which was enacted into law on May 26, 2023.
