Read more“Please join in on the commemorating of this year’s Juneteenth with the theme “Freedom Songs” on Thursday, June 15, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Oklahoma History Center, located at 800 Nazih Zuhdi Dr, Oklahoma City, OK 73105. This year, the event will include a pre-book signing with Carmen Fields. Ms. Fields is the daughter of Ernie Fields. She is an Emmy Award-winning broadcast news journalist who hosts and produces the show “Higher Ground.” Her book, “Going Back to T-Town” discusses black musicians’ successes, disappointments, and perseverance from early jazz to the 1960s. The program will include the Negro National Anthem with Loria Phillips, and special songs selections by talented song artist such as Bonita Franklin and Starr Fisher. In addition, there will be student performance from the Xinos and Kudos of Gamma Epsilon, Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc. The list of emcee, presenters, and speakers is composed of longtime educators and community leaders.

She received the 2022 Jeep Compass from Patriot Auto Group of Chandler, Oklahoma as being selected Student of The Year Tri-County which includes Potawatomi, Seminole, and Lincoln Counties. In addition to the car, she received $1,500 to pay for the taxes, tag, and title for the car. She was also selected as the Fast Pitch Player of The Year for the same three counties in which she was award $250. During the summer, Anneca is receiving pitching lessons and working out in preparation for pitching at Tulsa University this fall. She just returned from her senior trip to Cancun, Mexico and is returning to her job at Cazadores in Shawnee. She enjoys playing softball because it is in her blood. Her grandfather, Jack Stripling played for the St. Louis Cardinals. Her high school graduation was May 15, the birthday of her late grandfather, which made it special because she adored him. Anneca’s grandmother is the late Lavada Marie Ballard Stripling, formerly of Clearview.
