Wetumka Farmers Market Holds Ribbon Cutting

Wetumka Farmers Market is now open 7 days a week. There is no charge for vendors to set up a booth. Seasonal gardening and produce items are welcomed. Also, homemade food, arts & craft are also welcomed at the market. The only thing the city asks is that you clean your area when you leave. The city hopes that this will be a benefit to many of the local residents who can buy their fruits and vegetable grown locally which will be much more fresh and help support those in the local community.

OHCE Atwood Club Sews Cooling Neck Ties for Soldiers

The Hughes County OHCE Atwood Club sewed 26 cooling neck ties for deployed military this last Tuesday at their club meeting. The focus of this project is to help keep service members cooler as the triple-digit temps begin to hit this summer. We will be saving some of the neck ties for our annual military boxes that we send out each fall to deployed relatives of local residents of Hughes county, and the rest will go to Madison Nickels a 4-Her that is collecting these neck ties year-round to send to deployed military. Our OHCE club hopes to help keep service members cooler for when the triple digit temps begin to hit. These neck ties are filled with water-absorbent polymers and work on the principal of evaporative cooling. Cool-ties are a hands-free way to bring down a person’s body temperature. If you are a resident of Hughes county and have a deployed relative, send us your loved ones contact information to 200 N. Broadway. Suite 2, Holdenville, OK 74848 and they will put them on their list for this fall.
