Main Street Community Center Receives Makeover

A group of individuals representing Tulsa’s most talented and successful professional workforce community began a journey in March 2021 to visit the Thirteen Original Historically All-Black Towns of Oklahoma. They completed that journey on August 28, 202, driving their own vehicles, meeting each town mayors and citizens while learning and experiencing the histories of each individual towns. They learned how towns collaborated and networked to build communities and survived until this day. Historian, Shirley Nero, and husband Donnie Nero guided them along the way.

Clearview News

The Lawrence and Marguerite French family will hold their family reunion in Clearview on Saturday, June 11 th at the Old School Gym Community Center. Otis Davis is home from the hospital and recuperating from his broken knee. He continues to move around and is doing well. Marjorie Plunkett is back home after spending a week with her daughter in Texas. Billy Walker called checking on everyone is doing well and he is missing everyone. Please continue your prayers for those on our sick list: Clifford Normore, Billy Walker, L.C. Carson, Sharon Patton, Dorothy Loggins, Marjorie Plunkett, Ethelene Scott, Kurrilue Johnson, Earnest Hamilton, and Johnny West.

Helen Marie Duncan

Helen Marie Duncan passed away on May 27, 2022, after a courageous 21-year battle with kidney cancer. Helen was born June 22, 1943, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to parents Wesley and Anna Johnson. Helen was raised in a loving home by her mother and grandmother. After graduating from high school in Holdenville, Helen attended college in Ada, Oklahoma at East Central University. Helen graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business, English and secondary education. She continued to earn a master’s degree in secondary education at East Central University and secondary administrative certification from Northern Arizona University.
