Dr. Donnie Nero has been named as one of the 55 over 55 inspiring Oklahomans for 2023 including Governor Bill Anoatubby, Govern Mary Fallin, Steve Owens, Bruce Fisher, Glen Johnson, Cathy Keating, Mick Cornett and many others. The 55 over 55 inspiring Oklahomans began last year with their inaugural class of inspiring Oklahomans, this being the second year that a resident of Okfuskee County resident is being honored. Senator Roger Thompson was inducted as a member of the inaugural class.
