Each year the Oklahoma Bar Association sponsors art and writing contests for students across the state to promote current issues. The theme for this year’s contest was “The 19th Amendment” in honor of its historic 100th anniversary. This year, near-ly 1,100 students from across the state entered the contest.

Read moreDonavin Evans, 8 th grade student at Okemah Middle School, recently won the State Powerlifting competition in Miami in the lightweight squat and lightweight bench events. In addition to winning the championship, he was selected as MVP of the 8 th grade competition. Before going to the state competition, Donavin earned second place in the 132# division at the Allen Mustang Invitational and first place at the Checotah and Chandler meets. He is the son of proud parents Kelli & Leon Neal and grandson of proud grandparents Elayne and Claud Evans.
