David Lester Pitts

David Lester Pitts Sr, 76, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2025 in Oklahoma City surrounded by family. He was born April 22, 1948 in Comanche, Oklahoma to W.O. and Sarah (Barton) Pitts.
Following his graduation from Loco High School, David embarked on a life of service and giving to his family, communities, counties and neighbors. He served in a progression of law-enforcement roles from officer to deputy investigator and chief of police. Using his fantastic construction skills, David built numerous homes, offices, hangers, docks, and churches for family and friends across Oklahoma. He converted his high school love of basketball to coaching his kids in their individual sports and training them to be OU Sooners, Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma City thunder fans. You could always count on him for a detailed debriefing after each OU football game!
Oklahoma’s Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton, along with old-time country and western music, could get his toes tapping every time. Above all, every day, David demonstrated his strength (even though some might have called it stubbornness!) of love, faith, family, and character.
He is survived by his siblings, Francine Anderlohr, Janice Walker, Verdell Pitts, and Emzla Pitts; his son, David and wife Stacee Pitts; daughter, Terri Pitts; son, Ryan and wife, Hillary Pitts; and stepson, Jimmy Biffle; grandchildren, Jacey (Pitts) and husband Aidan “ Big Dog” Penman, Baylee (Pitts) and husband Cade Heavin, Rylee Pitts, Reagan Pitts, Stephen Biffle, Paul, Biffle, Morgan Carter, and Macie Carter; great-grandchildren Parker Penman and Hunter Heavin; and cherished extended family members, including his first wife, Dorothy (Doughty) Martin, many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
David is celebrating in heaven with his parents W.O. and Sarah; siblings, Kenneth, Wiley, Lena Scott, and Dorothy Whitfield; second wife, Vicki (Timms) Pitts; and granddaughter Harley Jane Pitts.
Funeral services will be held at Ray of Hope Church in Comanche, Oklahoma, on Thursday, April 3rd, with a viewing at 2:00 pm and service beginning at 2:30 pm performed by Rev. Warren Harkins. Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips funeral home of Holdenville Oklahoma.
Some of David ‘s bonus brothers’ children and family members will serve as pallbearers: Bo Walker, Dennis Doughty, Donny Foraker, Mike Owens, Travis Crochet, Jared Pitts, David Horn and Johnny, “Lil John” Doughty.
In lieu flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to Hope Academy of Stephens County.
